The structure of subordinate clauses
Learn about the structure of the "bijzin" - (B1-level)
Enroll in Course
In this course you'll learn about the structure of Dutch subordinate clauses (bijzinnen) and I will teach you how to make bijzinnen with conjunction words. In this first class we practice with three subordinate conjunction words (this means that they introduce a subordinate clause): omdat, als & toen and also with one coordinate conjunction word (which introduces another main sentence) want. In this case I can emphasize on the difference between main sentence structure and the structure of sub clauses.
The theory is explained in a video and in a PDF-file with extra information (in English) and you can take four quizzes with a total of 40 questions, so you can test your new knowledge!
This is class is also part of the Dutch Sentence Structure Course, so if you want to practice with more sentence structures, you can find that course here.

I am Kim Jautze, the owner and founder of the online language school "Dutchies to be - Learn Dutch with Kim". Before I founded my online school, I studied Dutch linguistics, did a Ph.D. in Dutch computational literature (which I, unfortunately, due to a burnout, couldn't finish) and I worked for several years as a teacher "Dutch as a second language".
In my online language school "Dutchies to be - learn Dutch with Kim" you can learn Dutch in a fun and easy way by watching my YouTube videos and enrolling in online courses.
